Prayer requests for the Diaspora Missiology Compendium project
Please ask the Lord to guard the remaining parts of the publication process so that the compendium will be available as scheduled this spring.
Pray that more Bible colleges, seminaries and ministry training centers will embrace the importance of diaspora missiology. Pray that more courses as well as degree programs will be offered on the subject so that the Church may be better equipped for the times.
Pray for the development of a model for diaspora missiology training for local church members.
Please pray that the compendium will be used to help train Kingdom workers in both formal and non-formal settings. Ask God to provide the necessary funds for the book to be sent to training institutions.
Prayer requests from Global Diaspora Forum participants
Please pray that God will bring hope and deliverance to migrant domestic workers in Lebanon in life-threatening situations. An estimated 250,000 migrant domestic workers are mostly from Asia and Africa; they are often seen as property rather than as people. Ask our Savior to change unsafe working conditions, to prevent abuse and to drive away suicidal thoughts.
Lift up political leaders and governments; may these men and women encounter the Living God each day. Pray that they will seek the Lord regarding policy decisions and that God will grant peace and justice.
Pray for the churches and ministries in Europe to make the most of the present opportunity to communicate the love of Christ to migrants and refugees. Ask God to strengthen those who are assisting with physical needs, as in Serbia and Hungary. Pray that these acts of love will lead to spiritually fruitful conversations and relationships.
Ask the Holy Spirit to unite the Body of Christ in prayer for diaspora peoples and issues. Pray that we would see spiritual breakthroughs among the nations.
Diaspora People in Focus: Turks
Turks make up one of the largest, still unreached people groups. Most Turks are Muslims and strongly tie their cultural identities with Islam. About 1 in 10 Turks live outside of Turkey. Perhaps being religious minorities in Europe, Russia and USA have led Turks in diaspora to become more resistant to the good news of Christ.
Praise God for working “all things together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Thank Him for His wisdom in bringing diaspora Turks to places where the message of salvation can be more freely shared.
Ask the Lord to give Turks in Greece and other Balkan nations a hunger for spiritual truth. May the fact that Jesus “has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility” be made evident in lives of those who follow Christ in these countries.
Pray for the nearly 3 million Turks in Germany to have softened hearts toward the Prince of Peace. Pray for whole extended families to turn to Christ together and grow in maturity. Ask God to reveal Himself to Turks in Uzbekistan through answered prayers in the name of Jesus. Pray that the Lord our Shield will protect the lives of new followers in ways which bring Him more glory.
Pray against the work of evil spirits seeking to harm Turks in diaspora. Pray that Turks around the world will walk in truth and enjoy freedom.
Country of Diaspora: Singapore
Singapore has become a hub for diaspora, helped by its political stability and wealth. About 2 out of every 5 people in Singapore are immigrants, and nearly 100 ethnic groups are present, speaking over 30 languages. The country values strongly its ethnic and religious diversity, outlawing open attempts to persuade someone to change his or her religious beliefs.
Praise God for the growth of the Church in Singapore. Thank Him for His blessings of peace and prosperity which have helped make the country a strategic center for biblical training, mission sending and international ministry.
Pray that Jesus’s humility and material simplicity will be imitated by Singaporean Christ-followers and resonate with the marginalized. Pray that short-term mission participants will pursue life-long support of and direct involvement in the spread of the Kingdom. Ask God to strengthen the ministries which interact with the many migrant workers from across Southeast Asia.
Pray for those who do not currently follow Christ to have repeated dreams and visions of Jesus. Pray that Malays, Indians and mainland Chinese will then initiate discussions with Christ-followers. Ask the Spirit to give to His people bold speech and grace-filled actions so that many will finally encounter the Living God.
