Pray for Global Diaspora Forum
Ask for God’s continued protection over all the individuals involved with the Forum. Pray against evil forces which seek to twist and tear down that which God has done.
Pray for wisdom for the authors and editors of the diaspora missiology compendium as they gather and process feedback from the Forum. Pray that revisions will be completed in a timely way and that the compendium will be widely available soon.
Pray for Global Diaspora Network leaders and Forum participants as they reflect on what the Lord has said and done. Pray that it will become clear to everyone what the next steps are. Pray for steadfast obedience.
Praise God for the many intercessors from around the world who lifted up (and are still lifting up) the Forum. Pray for more mobilization of ongoing prayer for diaspora issues and people.
Diaspora People in Focus
The term “diaspora” first referred to Jewish exiles and, for many centuries, Jewish people identified themselves as a people in diaspora. Even after the establishment of Israel in 1948, around 60% of Jewish people continue to live in diaspora. Half of those live in the United States, which also has the largest number of Messianic Jews. The increasing number of violent anti-Semitic attacks, including the deadly attacks on a kosher supermarket in Paris in January and at a Copenhagen synagogue, has led many Jews in Europe to strongly consider emigrating.
Praise God for preserving the Jewish people despite them being the frequent target of persecution and violence. Pray that many will put their trust in Jesus Christ for their security and protection. Pray that Jews everywhere will pay close attention to the Scriptures and that the Holy Spirit will remove the veil covering their hearts so that they may recognize and welcome their Messiah. During Passover celebrations this month, may the Lord reveal Himself to many families as the Lamb who brings salvation. Ask God to equip Messianic Jews to share their faith with Jew and Gentile alike during Passover and other festivals.
Country of Diaspora
Cote d’Ivoire has one of the largest international migrant populations in the world and the largest one in Africa. Many different West African peoples from surrounding nations, with an estimated 70% from Muslim backgrounds, have settled there. The capital of Abidjan has rapidly become a major metropolitan area and a key city for outreach not only for Cote d’Ivoire but also for Mali and Burkina Faso. Unity and stability is challenged by one region being dominated by Muslims and another by Christians; a strong animistic worldview pervades both.
Praise God for His plan in bringing millions of migrants to Cote d’Ivoire. Pray that the Church will bring forth the whole gospel to address the deeply rooted areas of fear and ungodly devotion. Ask God to send forth more Ivoirians to minister cross-culturally among the unreached and migrants. Pray for Bible translation work, audio Scripture projects, and Christ-centered music recordings to bear much fruit throughout West Africa. May the Lord of the harvest plant churches among every tribe in Cote d’Ivoire.
